‘Tis the Season
Wow it’s that time of year again already! Ever since I was a kid Thanksgiving and Christmas were my two favorite holidays. The main reason is my family always made it about spending time together. At Thanksgiving we would always have a big family gathering and I would get to spend time with family that I didn’t get to see very often. At Christmas it was an all day celebration starting at home then to my grandparents house for breakfast and then to my grandmothers house for lunch and then sometimes back to my grandparents or an aunt’s house for supper or snacks, and more family time! During Christmas break from school my dad was usually off of work for a week and we would do some fun family things… go to the movies, go bowling… and definitely lots of board games! As I got older some family traditions fizzled out for one reason or another, but the one thing that always remained the same was the true meaning of those holidays. Now that I have my own little family I often reflect on what kind of values I want to instill in my daughter. When I hear the phrase “Tis the Season “ it makes me wonder why are people saying that? There are many different seasons in our life. I believe that in each of those seasons there is a time to be joyful and a time to mourn, because in every natural season things bloom and things die. I know that not everyone is going to be happy or joyful this Christmas season because of things going on or sad memories. If you encounter someone that is a little less happy this season be there for them, don’t try to fix them just be there. My wish this season is for everyone to have someone they can spend time with and make great memories with. If you happen to be someone that doesn’t have anyone reach out and I promise you will have someone in your corner. The next time you hear the phrase “Tis the Season “ reflect on what that means to you. Hope you have enjoyed this blog, and until next time, Merry Christmas!!! JPH
